A CHAIN OF VOICES

Historical Drama 110 Minute 65 mm Dolby Atmos

Based on true events, A CHAIN OF VOICES stands as a prophetic lesson–when hopes of freedom from slavery are dashed, and when promises of equal treatment are broken, an escalating spiral of bitterness, resentment, and, finally, explosive violence is inevitable.

It recounts the roots of the apartheid system during the early part of the 19th century as it was established by Dutch settlers known as Boers. When the English colonists took over, they introduced, but rarely enforced, various reforms to end slave labor and improve living conditions. Both groups felt justified in their roles as “master” by the religious conviction that God has given the white settlers entire control over the natives.

Published in 1982, the story convincingly demonstrates that the inevitable result of slavery is intolerable human abuse: physical abuse of men, physical and sexual abuse of women, neglect and mistreatment of children and, finally, insult and injury to the soul. It searches the bad old times for a key to understanding present times.

It also brings hope to abused people around the world as Galant’s revolt will grow, spreading across the entire country and lead to the abolition of slavery. In other words, it shows how the actions of one person can change the course of history.
